HSE and Stanford Students are Similar in Many Ways

Between September 10th and 16th,‘Stanford Week’organized by the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs took place at the HSE. Leading Stanford professors conducted short courses of lectures and master classes for students. Below is a selection of their comments about the event .

Students in World Politics

Mark Manuilov, a second-year student of the HSE Faculty of Management master’s course, told us about a new student initiative –a Russian-American forum involving the HSE, several other Moscow universities and Stanford University. Mark is one of the students who organized this project.

Stanford Week at the HSE

Between September 10th and 16th the Stanford Week organized by the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs will be held at the HSE.

Recently the 17th International Conference on Conceptual Structures (ICCS 2009) was held at the HSE. As part of this event, mathematicians, programmers, linguists and philosophers discussed principles and methods of concept representation and processing. We talked to the conference organizers and some participants about the cumulative effect of interdisciplinary research, potential for graphic representation of knowledge and some architectural surprises of the Russian capital!

HSE is One of the Top Three

In July the Higher School of Economics moved up to third position among Russian universities in the Webometrics international ranking. In January the HSE was fourth.

Stanford + HSE: Endless Possibilities for Co-operation

On July 28th a meeting between HSE and the U.S. Department of Education representatives took place, dedicated to the ongoing collaborative project between the Higher School of Economics and Stanford University.

Two-stage Higher Education Looms Large

In Russia according to changes in the Federal Law on Education approved two years ago and coming into effect with the start of the new academic year,  the majority of universities will be enrolling students into Bachelor's and Master's programs instead of traditional five-year courses . The HSE Deputy rector Vadim Radayev comments on the innovation for the RIA Novosti correspondent Yulia Medvedovskaya.
